A nonprofit born out of the fight against AIDS, whose main mission is to welcome and support people in situations of social and health precarity who are most vulnerable.
La Maison Béranger is run by a team of 60 volunteers and employees. It is a place dedicated to people living in precarity and those who are HIV-positive, in a collective setting, often centred around meals.
These open sessions at the premises help to break isolation in a convivial environment. Beneficiaries can talk, exchange and be listened to by volunteers as well as by other regulars, eat, quite simply, prevent illness and support the maintenance of good health, fight malnutrition, improve quality of life, encourage resocialisation and empowerment, by taking part in communal life and in the life of the organisation (meal preparation, washing up, etc.). And this while respecting the rules of the space, having access to secondary prevention, notably through the provision of condoms and documentation, through dialogue, benefiting from practical facilities (shower, washing machine, tumble dryer), and fighting against risky behaviours.
